Located at 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, The Trump International Hotel is perfectly situated near the national mall in Washington D.C., nestled between The Capitol Building and The White House. It is housed in the Old Post Office Building, originally constructed from 1892 to 1899, and entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. This historic landmark building has now been revitalized into a 263 room beacon of luxurious hospitality excellence.
01/ Hospitality Service
Similar to other Trump properties, this property represents the gold-standard of well-trained service, a mandatory quality in the ultra-luxury hospitality sector that can be experienced in every interaction. The entire staff is dutiful and courteous with immaculate suits and polished uniforms. We are pleased to report finding everyone to be extremely helpful, respectful, and knowledgeable regarding the property. Every team member from the doormen, to restaurant staff, and room personnel were so pleasant and visibly happy to represent the Trump name.
The hotel features a giant working bell tower modeled from those at Westminster Abbey, which houses the Bells of Congress, a gift to the U.S. from the Ditchley Foundation in England. The exterior façade maintains the traditional limestone masonry that characterizes the surrounding area, blending seamlessly with the other landmark buildings of the national mall. The interior greets you with a massive atrium that maintained the exposed steel beams of the previous post office.
The steel beams in the lobby’s atrium are painted in the signature Trump gold color, offering a nod to the building’s history but with a modern twist. Allowing for lots of natural light to enter from the grand skylight above helps to create the perfect ambiance. The Royal blue furniture contrasts well with the surrounding lobby space, and the gold flourishes throughout. The guest rooms are grand, featuring 16-foot ceilings with colored accents and velvet headboards that resemble the Trump crest. Brass fixtures complement the mahogany wood furnishings with tasteful use of marble in the washrooms. Oversized windows allow natural light to flood the room, with electronic blackout curtains providing an ideal sleeping space. Many of the rooms provide breathtaking views of the urban DC surroundings, beckoning guests to pull back the opulent curtains and shades to take in the full vista. The hallway arches contain Victorian accents conspire with the large American flag that hangs in the lobby to make both domestic and international guests feel like they’re in the epicenter of American luxury.
The Benjamin Bar is named after founding father Benjamin Franklin, located in the lobby and with celebrity Chef David Burke’s menu to delight the guests. The hotel features just one store, a boutique from luxury Italian line Brioni, globally renowned for its tailor-made suits. The 10,000-square-foot Spa by Ivanka Trump and the fitness center is located in what was once the post office’s mailroom, and still boast the original curved ceilings. There are also babysitting services, a house car, event spaces, and pet- friendly accommodations.
According to our ambassador’s inspection, the hotel room and common areas are in immaculate condition, which particular attention being paid to the latest CDC guidelines related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
All regulatory standards are met/exceeded, with provisions and consumables readily available to all guests. The property makes extensive use of the Trump branding in every aspect of the guest experience, from both explicit and subtle references in the architecture and decor to the smallest details like branded cups and napkins that remind guests of where they are at all times. The marketing of the property in print and social media is tailored to appeal to a high-end clientele, and effectively communicates the luxurious and sophisticated character of the property
07/ Quality Assurance
All facilities and equipment appear to be maintained to the highest standards. The hotel management is extremely responsive to guest feedback, with detailed adjustments being made in real-time to meet and exceed all expectations. This can also be credited, in part, to the detailed hands-on approach for which its owner and namesake is so famous.
Provision of physical, psychological, and digital guest security meet and/or exceed all local/international standards and protocols. The ever-present equipment, personnel, and site monitoring of the US Secret Service add to an already tight security culture of the Trump Organization, and guests can feel quite comfortable and secure at this property, even amidst these uncertain times.
General Manager Mickael Damelincourt has brought the French art of hospitality to this jewel of American luxury.
